Schulkingal's advice to me was to do a thorough rinse until you couldn't smell sulphur anymore. Perhaps he might chime in with his thoughts here  :c017:
You've just shared my thoughts BD, not sure I can add anything ;)
Shouldn't be a problem. The little that can't be rinsed out wouldn't affect the beer in any way. Yes I haven't oaked beer, but I can't see it being very different from wine, in this sense.

I found that this recipe takes a while to 'come together' after packaging - so I reckon it will be a good one to start the barrel project with.

What do you mean by this comment? I was considering brewing a double batch for this - one for the barrel, one for me. Are you saying that the recipe needs some time to mature in a keg? Is the alcohol content sufficiently high enough to support this?

This beer benefits from a bit of time in the bottle imo. So best to drink after a few months, not a few weeks.

Is it going to be a problem if I don't get to brewing this till early November?

Yeast wise - is it worth asking Nige to add sufficient number of vials to the stock? That is, next time he puts a yeast order together?

Isn't that when we are supposed to be brewing it? What is the proposed date to have tastings and racking (or whatever you call it when you transfer to a barrel)?

We do need a date. Don't want to clash with the SABC event upcoming, or swaps, etc.

I suggest aiming for mid/end Nov for sampling and racking to keg.

We definitely need to pre-order some yeast as the one chosen is a special release strain. I want a smackpack all to myself. Perhaps we need a list. I love lists.
