SABC - Call for Presentations (2014)
« on: November 21, 2013, 07:30:32 PM »
Folks,

We're on the lookout for people who wish to do a short presentation on a topic related to brewing or of interest to brewers for 2014.

It could be anything from the history of your favourite style, a specific ingredient or even just process tips and tricks. Perhaps if you're interested in Cider or Mead, those are topics of interest to some brewers and would be OK too.

I have volunteered to do a presentation on Wheat beer at the January meeting, and we're looking for others to do presentations next year.

We like to aim to have a specific topic every second meeting, but that's not a hard and fast rule, so if we get a rush of people wanting to present then it can be accommodated.

Please post if you're interested in presenting a topic in 2014, and we'll accomodate.
Also, if there is specific things you would like the committee to find presenters for, please suggest, and we'll do our best to find someone knowledgeable in the topic to present.

Cheers

If you want a presentation on talking shit then I'm happy to accommodate.

After the reaction to my stout at the last 2 brewers events I'd be happy to come up with something to talk about next winter when the Wheaty has the font of darkness on. I'd bring a few bottles of my stout as well, there's about a 100% chance that I'll have some on hand during winter.
I have nothing interesting to add here.

Ur reverse negative hopping presentation was a good one

Yeah, a lot of work went into the reverse negative hopping presentation.
I have nothing interesting to add here.

Yeah it doesn't need to be super detailed with powerpoint slides etc - though that can be catered for should you wish to (with notice, the club needs to advise the wheaty we would need their projector)

G'Day Vortex.

I am thinking of doing back to back brews with the second batch using first wort hopping.
I could bring both beers along for tasting and give a brief discussion of the technique.
How does that sound??
after two beers I'm anyone's

That sounds like a good idea. I think it would have to be a pretty low-hop style to see if there is any difference, but I like the idea!

Can you have it ready for a presentation in March?

Vortex, if people are interested I am happy to do a presentation/ Q and A on brewing for competitions. May or June would suit me best as that is about the time to start brewing for sabsosa etc.

That would be great! I'm sure plenty of folks would be interested to hear more about malting.

Is there any particular meeting night that works for you? We meet 3rd wednesdays of every month.

That gets a plus vote.

Only thing better would be him and Yob starting the presentation in the bar and finishing it in the car park.
