It's not like we have anything you city dwellers need like your food (meat, grain, vegies) not to mention grapes for your wine and the grains and hops to make your beer.

It's not like the cities provide large accessible populations to buy your produce so you can afford your idealised country life!

C'mon Smurto you're better than that. Why set up some crapy city vs country divide. There are urban areas that are poorly serviced by government facilities like schools and hospitals. Many outer suburban/low SES schools hold fund raising events to be able to afford new facilities.

What you're highlighting is the problem of governments not giving a shit about populations that are not high visibility. They know they can screw them over and get away with it.

But let's assume the politicians are serious about their job and intend to better fund the CFS; where should the money come from? Should taxes be raised or should we cut funding to other spending? If we are cutting spending, what should it be? The $550 million energy plan? Statewide stamp duty concession of up to $15 500 on off-the-plan apartment purchases to 30 June 2018? $528 million to build a new Adelaide Women’s Hospital adjacent to the new RAH? $608 000 over two years for a pilot program providing free fresh fruit and vegetables to selected primary schools under the Right Bite program?

Maybe $522 000 over four years to establish a Country Fire Service Brigade at Leigh Creek?

I'm going to nominate $6 million over two years for the Autumn Racing Carnival at Morphettville and $3 million over three years as a contribution to the licensing costs of hosting a second South Australian V8 Supercar event at Tailem Bend.

And I'm pretty sure they could find some waste to cut in the $1.9 billion for road projects.

Sorry, cheap shot/click bait fuelled by anger at seeing volunteers bust their guts raising funding to allow them the resources required to do their volunteering. They spent hours chopping onions, organising snags and drinks to spend all of yesterday at a Bunnings to raise maybe $1000. And they'll do it all again soon for the Lobethal xmas pageant. They should be spending their time with their loved ones until such time the CFS is needed.

$1 billion on an oval would fund a lot but doesn't buy enough votes.

Fairly certain I could find waste in a government organisation. Having worked for CSIRO and DSTO, I've seen far too much money being wasted. Literally trying to find ways to waste money or risk reduced funding. I was all but formally disciplined for pointing out ways to save money.

Clearly I have a rose tinted view of the world, naively assuming essential emergency services were funded by our taxes. Publicly run/owned.

An efficient public service?
We all know the unbelievable amount of money that gets wasted. An effiecient public service would cut our taxes in half. Knock out one tier of government and cut it in half again. Then we truly would be the richest country on earth and probably the most advanced

Better yet I unfriended you on Facebook.
I don't need the negatively and BS that comes with being associated to a brewer who treats hops like that.

I think I'm as lucky as I can be Dez. Doesn't appear to be any structural damage and the car is still driveable. Just the front bumper and grill are stuffed, possibly the hood or one side panel is out of shape.

Can't help thinking that the insurance excess would have been better going towards brewing gear though.

Buying off ebay only to have to pay extra postage as the cunty seller posted in an envelope minus their return address. Knob end has already left me positive feedback.
