How have people's hops crops been this year?
After a late start, I managed to get a few Cascade flowers from a cutting (Thanks Wachey!).
I harvested 168g wet on Sunday, which became 37g dry. Not a massive amount of aroma in them, but figure I'll make a small pale ale batch to test them out.

I didn’t harvest any cones this season. I had a lot of burs on my plants but I had to chop them all back to “ground level” in my pots so I could move them to the new house.

After a late start, I managed to get a few Cascade flowers from a cutting (Thanks Wachey!).

That was a collective effort! I got the cuttings from Fewbrew, I got the cuttings to root and you grew the plant out to flower. That’s pretty cool!

Picked 1.6kg of Victoria hops today. Still more to pick tomorrow, possibly almost that much again. Was only planning on picking enough for 1 batch but the aroma from them was to much for me so I kept picking. Only had to stand on a milk crate a few times, the rest was near the ground so easy pickings.

Very nice! Kind of makes me wish I didn't have to cut mine down.

Have you killed that Chinook plant yet?

I've hit the chinook with another dose of glyphosate which had killed of all the above ground growth again. I'll remove all that, pull up as much of the rhizomes as i can and paint that with tree killer. I'm hoping that by killing the above ground growth 4 times in the growing season I've put a big dent in the rhizomes energy stores but come spring I'm suspecting it to shoot.

Great hop but I want to reclaim that section of my garden back. It's too big to dig out without machinery so I'm trying to kill it instead. The Victoria is right at the back and provides great shade to my chooks in summer so it gets to stay.

Big thanks to Glen for the loan of his rotary hoe. Made light work of the chinook hops. This is what i dug out from 3 or 4 chinook plants,  the oldest has been in the ground for close to 11 years. Now to see what reshoots come spring. I dug out a 5m radius and then went over it with a garden fork to get all the bits.

Nice rhizome haul
Mostly roots. The repeated spraying did the trick. Almost no rhizome growth this season.

All now in the green bin.
